Fan User Guide

Welcome to Arena - the home for fans who want more than a scoreline. This guide walks you through everything you need to know to get the most out of the app: following the action live, posting, chatting, unlocking exclusive content, and managing your account.

Getting Started

Creating your account

You'll need to be at least 16 to create an Arena account. You can sign up by joining the wait list and we'll notify you when you've been added to Arena.

To create a fan account:

Open the Arena app and tap Create new account.
Choose to sign up with your mobile number or email.
Enter your date of birth, then tap Next.
Enter your mobile number or email, then tap Next.
Enter the verification code we send you.
Enter your full name.
Follow your favourite athletes, leagues, or teams to personalise your feed.

That's it — you're in.

Troubleshooting sign-up

The app doesn't recognise my mobile number. Double-check you've entered it correctly and included the country code (for example, 61 for Australia). If you see a message saying an account already exists with your number, you may need to wait a few days before trying again. You can also sign up with your email address instead.

I didn't get the verification code.

Check the number or email you entered — tap back to correct it if needed.

If you signed up with email, check your junk folder.
Wait one minute, then tap Resend to get a new code.

Your Profile

Your profile is how other fans and sports professionals find you on Arena. Some details (your profile picture, cover photo, and name) are always public so people can recognise you.

Editing your profile

Go to your profile and tap Edit profile.

Update your name, username, avatar, bio, or link.
Tap Save.

For more personal details, tap the menu icon on your profile. You can edit:

Intro — a short bio or description of yourself.
Personal details — phone number, email, gender, date of birth, and country of residence.

Some changes may require verification before they take effect.

Following live sport

Arena brings live scores, stats, and play-by-play for matches across the sports you care about. Here's how to find them.

Jumping into a live match

From the homepage:

Open the app.
Go to Today's Sport or Live Matches — only live games appear here.

From the Sport tab:

Go to the Sport tab.
Make sure the date is set to Today.
Tap any match marked Live, or open the Live tab and pick one.

Finding a specific match

Go to the Sport tab.
Tap Edit My Sports.
Find what you're after:
- Use the search bar — type a team or league name, select it, then tap Done.
- Open the All Sports tab, pick a sport → league → team, then tap Done.
- Open the Recent tab, pick something from your history, then tap Done.
Tap Today to choose a different date. A green dot means there's at least one match scheduled that day.
Browse the list and tap a match to open it.

What you'll see inside a match

Match header: team names and logos, live score, possession indicator (tennis, American football), match time or final result, and status (Live / Finished / Upcoming).

Tabs you can switch between:

Chat (default) — what other fans are saying right now.
Overview — summary and key stats.
Play-by-Play — a running timeline of events.
Player Stats / Player detail — individual performance.
Team Stats — side-by-side comparisons.
Fixture / H2H — upcoming matches and head-to-head history.
Standing / Draw — league ladder and rankings.

Digging into player stats

Open a match.

Go to the Player Stats tab.
Tap any player's name.

You'll see a detailed breakdown of their performance. Use the toggle to switch between match stats and season average.

Checking the league ladder

Open a match.
Go to the Standing tab.

You'll see league rankings, team positions, points, and records.

Watching the match timeline

Open a match.
Go to the Play-by-Play tab.

You'll get a chronological list of events with AI-generated descriptions. Use the filter to focus on key moments.

Pinning matches for quick access

Found a match you want to keep an eye on?

Open the match.
Tap the pin icon in the match header.

To find your pinned matches:

Go to the Sport tab.
Tap the Pinned tab.
Tap any match to jump back in.

Discovering content and people

Searching Arena

Go to Discover.
Tap the search bar at the top.
Enter a keyword.

Results are split into four tabs so you can find exactly what you're looking for:

For You — a mix of accounts and posts relevant to your search.
Accounts — user accounts matching your keyword.
Posts — posts, plays, and stories related to your search.
Hashtags — relevant hashtags.

Interacting with posts and plays

Saving posts and plays

Open any post or play.
Tap the save icon.
Pick an existing collection or create a new one.

Sharing posts, plays, and stories

There are two ways to share on Arena.

Share inside Arena:

Open any post, play, or story.
Tap the share icon.
Pick users from the suggested list or search for someone specific.
Tap Send or Send separately.

You can also create a new group chat to share into.

Share outside Arena:

Open any post or play.
Tap the share icon.
Tap Share to.
Pick an app from the list and complete the share.

Watching plays hands-free

Open the Plays tab.
Toggle Hands-free on to watch videos back-to-back without scrolling. Toggle it off when you want to take back control.

Reporting a post, play, or story

If you see something that shouldn't be on Arena:

Open the post, play, or story.
Tap the more options icon.
Tap Report.
Choose a reason and submit.

Unlocking Exclusive Content

Some athletes and creators share content that's behind a paywall — either as a one-off purchase or through a subscription. Here's how to unlock it.

Open the post.
Tap Unlock.
Choose Pay-per-view or Subscribe.
Pick a saved payment method or add a new one.
Complete the payment — the content is yours to enjoy.

Messaging Other Fans

Starting a conversation

Option 1: from Messages

Go to Messages.
Tap the Create (+) icon.
Search for a user.
Tap their profile to start the conversation.

Option 2: from a profile

Open the user's profile.
Tap the Messages icon.

Searching within a chat

Go to Messages.
Open a conversation.
Tap the more options icon.
Tap Search conversation and enter your keywords.

Muting a chat

Go to Messages.
Open the conversation.
Tap the more options icon.
Toggle Mute chat on or off.

Deleting a chat

Go to Messages.
Open the conversation.
Tap the more options icon.
Tap Delete chat.

Managing other users

Blocking a User

You can block someone in two ways.

From a chat:

Go to the user's profile or your 1-1 chat with them.
Tap the more options icon.
Tap Block and confirm.

From their profile:

Open their profile.
Tap the more options icon.
Tap Block and confirm.

Restricting a user

Restricting limits how someone can interact with you without fully blocking them. Same steps as above — just choose Restrict instead of Block.
